Sanjay Rikhi Ram
Necklace design
Gandhar Pancham style
A one of a kind
sitar, originally purchased for use in development
of geared sympathetic pegs which were successfully
made and installed! This is a classic Gandhar
Pancham style sitar with the addition of a low
G (PA) ~ kharaj gandhar bass string. The bridges are
synthetic but look to be a similar material as used
by the Hiren Roy shop as opposed to the urethane
bridges Sanjay used to use providing a better sound.
A very good jawari in an open Ravi Shankar style
(Sanjay 'makes' the instruments for Pandit Ravi
Shankar) and a great low action fret setting. Plain
back tumba, necklace design on the front neck. One of
the easiest sitars I've ever played. Comes with a
form fitted Rikhiram sitar case.
The standout
feature is the addition of carbon fiber sympathetic
pegs. The only set in existence, they are mounted in
a stationary position with carbon fiber shafts and
delrin peg heads. No replacement of your pegs should
ever be necessary. These are the prototypes of pegs
now available at pegheds.com. You can tune
up your sympathetics in about 30 seconds! Any they
stay in tune, a bit of a pain to restring but worth
it........This sitar is being
offered at below cost, $1800 was paid to get it from
India and over $1000 and 3 days to make the
sympathetic pegs. One only, the pictures are the
exact sitar available. Please email for any other
