Another fantastic sounding Gandhar Pancham sitar  from Srishti. There was a time when Ustad Vilayat Khan had perfected a design that was given to Kanai Lal. No comparisons, mind you but this instrument was made with the original specifications in mind. Most Vilayat Khan style sitars nowadays whether from famous Delhi makers or Miraj are very thin in construction and sometimes can wear out quickly. Here's one built the old way, a solid instrument that won't disappoint a demanding player, it has a very good tone and sympathetic response. Natural bridges and synthetic langot for strength. A 'meend machine' Has fancy Mother of Pearl inlay with the double birds on the tabli. There's a lot on this instrument that reminds me of the VK sitars Sanjay Sharma of Rikhi Ram used to make and the body is most likely from the same craftsmen in Howrah.. The sitar pictured is the exact one available. If there's enough interest in this style we'll have more made.
