Mohammed Waseem Concert Sitar
Kohinoor style decoration tun wood
Ravi
Shankar style setup ~ all inlaid in black/gold
celluloid design.
A Miraj version of the popular Kohinoor
design which has been done by a few makers, Waseem
probably the most well known designer of these
there. Extensive inlay and smooth carvings, this was
ordered in a darker inlay which hasn't been seen
before.
7 main strings and 13 sympathetics
featuring a 3/4 open jawari in the style of Pandit
Ravi Shankar. All ebony or rosewood for
nuts/bridges. Nuts (Meru) are hand carved. The langot is
maple and done in a unique style to string the main
strings without having to make a loop similar to the
large tanpuras. Rose carved main pegs and new
design sympathetics with slimmer peghead. Natural shellac finish in
dark brown with slight yellow undertones. Large
upper gourd with a 'tuned' top tumbi hole.
Jawari is about 3/4 open, nice sympathetic
response, custom jawari available of course as per
your needs.
I've known
Waseem for a very long time and happy to now be
offering his instruments. We visit yearly and are in
constant touch, the instruments are a nice
combination of both of our skills together!
Waseems
instruments are each unique so there are no carbon
copies although a nearly exact model can be ordered
if desired. All instruments go through my rigorous
sitar
setup process in the workshop.
Air shipped (always) and fiberglass
included, shipping will vary depending on your
location.
